Trump vows to ‘tell it like it is’ in his joint address to Congress

President Trump pledged Monday to lay it all out for the American people when he delivers his joint address to Congress on Tuesday.
“Tomorrow night will be big. I will tell it like it is,” Mr. Trump posted on social media.
The president will deliver an address to a joint session of Congress Tuesday night, his first opportunity to tout his agenda to viewers in prime time.
In his address, Mr. Trump is expected to reiterate his efforts to restructure the government through the Department of Government Efficiency, which is led by billionaire Elon Musk. It has resulted in the layoffs of tens of thousands of federal workers and the shuttering of multiple agencies, as well as spawned a slew of legal battles.
Tariffs will also be a big focus of the address. Mr. Trump has already imposed a 10% tariff on Chinese goods. On Tuesday, he is set to unleash 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico, which has been delayed for a month while the sides negotiated. He also announced an additional 10% tariff on imports from China, on top of those already in place. A separate 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports are lined up for March 12.
Mr. Trump will also talk about his proposals to reduce illegal immigration. Since taking office, he suspended the asylum process at the southern border and moved to end birthright citizenship for children born in the U.S. to parents who are here illegally. The birthright citizenship effort has been blocked by two federal judges.
